Kuala Lumpur Shore Excursion via Port Klang Terminal

There are hundreds of cruise liners who will sail along the Straits of Malacca on their South East Asia and ASEAN voyages. One of many ports of call is Port Klang, the entrance for cruise travelers/passengers to get a glimpse of Kuala Lumpur city, the capital of Malaysia.

Facts about Port Klang (which are related to Cruise excursions):
  • Port Klang is the largest port in Malaysia.
  • distance to Kuala Lumpur city approximately 60km crossing a few districts in the state of Selangor
  • there are 3 major ports in Port Klang (South, North, and West Port) which are cargo ports and 1 dedicated port/wharf for cruise ships (Port Klang Cruise Center) and this is located in along the same shore as West Port located in Pulau Indah.

Cruise Excursions

Travelers have so many choices of tours and excursions and travelers can even pre-purchase the package offered by the cruise companies. These tours would normally go by ‘Seat in Coach’ with limited places and attractions to choose from. Some coach tours will only go to malls and a couple of attraction sites for photo stops.

I carefully designed and customized my own Private Cruise Excursion for cruise travelers with a passion for introducing my city and getting a glimpse of Malaysia in general. This excursion also combines the must-see attractions within the city and the well-known Batu Caves Hindu Temple.

The Itinerary

Depending on the docking time of the ship (normally by 0730-0800hrs), I will be waiting for travelers by the arrival lobby area holding a welcome sign with travelers’ names on it. Onboard the vehicle and drive the journey (depending on traffic) shall take approximately 45mins to reach the first stop.

We will have a walk about 15-20mins around KLCC Park for travelers to have scenic photograph shots of the towers. Should travelers wish to visit the towers, a pre-purchase entrance ticket can be made through their website.

For about a 20mins drive from Petronas Towers, we will make a stop to visit Batu Caves Temple. After being brief about the site, travelers shall have about 40mins to take the 272 flights of colorful steps to explore the Hindu shrine inside the cave.

Continue to drive and make a stop to take a photo and get a piece of unique information on Malaysia’s monarchy system.

Next, drive past Perdana Botanical garden-the Green Lung of Kuala Lumpur where here located a few other attractions like the KL Bird’s Park, Butterfly Park, Lake Garden, National Monument, and National Mosque.

Central Market will be the day’s final stop. From here embark on a Heritage Walking tour exploring the past history of a small tin-mining settlement to become the capital of Malaysia. Observe the contrast between the city’s old and new. Here also if you decided to take a quick lunch there are a few cafes and a food court available. You can also find unique local arts and souvenirs to shop as tokens of memories of visiting Kuala Lumpur.

  • pasarseni
  • jalanpetaling
  • dataran merdeka 01

Another 45mins (depending on road traffic) back to the port, and here we will say goodbye.
