Overview
This tour program ‘A Day with the Gentle Elephants’ is a one-day tour program created for travelers who stay in Kuala Lumpur who would want to explore and learn about Malaysian wildlife specifically on our wild elephant’s Conservation program.
It also made it possible to combine this tour with the Mystical Evening Fireflies tour or on the longer Peninsula Road Trip. The best thing about this tour is the exposure to how our Wildlife Department saves injured or separated baby elephants from the herd in the wild. Visitors/travelers could also take activities to feed and perhaps bathe with the baby elephant by the river nearby.

Elephant Conservation Center, Kuala Gandah
Since 1974, the Malaysian Department of Wildlife & National Park team has been rescuing Asian Elephants whose habitats are being lost to cultivation and development. The elephants then are being relocated to suitable habitats in Taman Negara (National Park). The center was established in 1989 as the base for the Elephants Relocation Team, located in Temerloh of Pahang state, within the Krau Wildlife Reserve. The center’s aim is to create public awareness and support research, which has increasingly become popular as a tourist attraction since its existence was publicized back in 1997.
The center is open to visitors every day during common office working hours. They only closed on the 1st day of Hari Raya (which falls on the 1st of the lunar calendar month of Syawal) which varies from year to year. However, all the activities with the elephants have scheduled programs started from 1330hrs to 1530hrs (on normal weekdays, Saturdays & Sundays) and 1430hrs to 1600hrs on every Friday.
