Historical Malacca City Itinerary

I (we) going to grab you from the hotel lobby by 0730 or 0800hrs for an approximately 2 hours journey to Malacca.

Upon arrival in Malacca City after quite a long drive, indulge & relax by getting on board the Malacca River Cruise that shall take you for an approximately 30-45 minute ride along the historic Malacca river. The return trip of 9 kilometers will offer you scenic & colorful historical buildings, pre-war shophouses & vibrant types of bridges. Plus a tranquil Malay village with colorful wooden houses styled from Malay architecture.

Showcasing the history of the Chinese traders that were lured by Malacca’s burgeoning success & wealth, these traders went to marry local Malay women. As the result, the descendent of these marriages were known as Baba & Nyonya or Peranakan or Straits-born Chinese.

The tour will be guided by the museum’s in-house guide that will walk you through their private collections, arts & furniture that show their wealth with the property itself influenced by a mixture of Dutch & Greco-Roman columns, artistic Chinese tiles & lit up with Victorian chandeliers.

Criss-cross architecture styles from Sumatran, Chinese, Indian & the local Malay with Pagoda design minaret, the mosque is one of the oldest mosques in Malacca the original wooden structure was built by Indian-Moslem traders in 1748,, and in 1872 it was rebuilt in bricks.

It was blended with English & Portuguese glazed tiles, symmetrical arches, and Corinthian columns in the main prayer hall with an ablution pool next to the mosque. An excellent influence of architecture & design reflects the people embracing the multi-cultures hence nurturing the history & traditions that make what Malaysia is now.

Also known as the Temple of Green Cloud, this Chinese temple practices three Doctrinal Systems- Buddhism, Confucianism & Taoism. Early constructed in 1645 and additional structures were added up in 1673, the temple survived the ravages of time. It is the oldest functioning temple in the country and was awarded by UNESCO for outstanding architectural restoration in 2003.

The Dutch conquest of Malacca by the Portuguese in 1641 saw the proscription of Roman Catholicism and the conversion of the existing church to Dutch Reform use. In 1741, in commemoration of the centenary of the capture of Malacca, the Dutch decided to build a new church. After 12 years of construction, Christ Church was completed in 1753.

Located at the peak of Bukit Melaka (St. Paul Hill) St. Paul Church is a historic building originally built in 1521 making it the oldest church in the country and throughout South East Asia. in 1548 the church was deeded to the Society of Jesus by the Bishop of Goa and received by St. Francis Xavier.

A modern replica of the Long Gone Istana (Palace) was constructed based on the Malay Annals, written in the 17th Century which tell the palace’s glory. Exhibits range from traditional royal headdresses to a variety of Malay weapons and traditional textiles. A few dioramas showed the foreign traders during the glorious era, the well-known Admiral, and the Hall where the Sultan gathers with its ministers and foreign envoys.

Booking Deposit

  • Pay a 50% deposit or full by Credit Card or Pay Pal
  • For deposit payment, the remaining balance will be paid in cash on the tour day. We prefer local Malaysian Ringgit currency.
  • Full payment in cash on the tour can be arranged. Only apply for a booking made less than 10 hours before the tour start.

Refund

  • Deposits and payments are fully refundable in the event customer change their mind.
  • To receive a full refund, a minimum of 12 hours notice of cancellation prior to the tour’s scheduled start time is required.
  • No refund for unused service.
